Commercial Insurance Underwriting Assistant (EAST REGION)
Foresight Risk and Insurance Services Inc. (“Foresight”) seeking a Commercial Insurance Underwriting Assistant (EAST Region). The Underwriting Assistant provides operational and administrative support to the Underwriting team throughout the commercial insurance policy lifecycle. This role helps ensure submissions, underwriting files, and policy transactions are complete, accurate, and processed efficiently in accordance with established underwriting guidelines, procedures, and service standards. This role is a developmental position offering opportunities to build skills and experience that can support a variety of future career paths at Foresight, including potential opportunities in underwriting.
This role works closely with Underwriters and cross-functional teams to coordinate underwriting activities, prepare files for review and decision-making, maintain accurate data and documentation, and support timely processing of new and renewal business.
The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in commercial insurance operations, particularly Workers’ Compensation, and is comfortable working in a fast-paced, technology-enabled MGA environment.

Responsibilities
  • Support the processing of new and renewal business from initial submission through rating, underwriting review, binding, and policy servicing.
  • Review incoming submissions for completeness and accuracy and obtain missing information or documentation needed for underwriting review.
  • Enter, maintain, and validate submission, account, and policy information within Salesforce and other underwriting systems.
  • Assist with rating activities, loss run review, Loss Rating Tool (LRT) preparation, and other underwriting documentation.
  • Prepare underwriting files and referrals for Underwriter review, ensuring required information and supporting documentation are complete and accurate.
  • Process and coordinate routine underwriting and policy servicing activities in accordance with established procedures and assigned authority.
  • Track outstanding underwriting requirements and follow up with internal teams, brokers, or other stakeholders to keep submissions moving through the pipeline.
  • Maintain accurate underwriting files, documentation, and audit trails in accordance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and partner requirements.
  • Utilize Foresight’s underwriting technology, automation, and data tools to support efficient processing, review system exceptions, and maintain data quality.
  • Assist with broker and producer requests related to submission status, documentation, and routine servicing needs, escalating underwriting questions and decisions as appropriate.
  • Partner with Underwriting, Insurance Operations, Broker Relations, Safety Success, and Product to support efficient workflows and resolve processing issues.
  • Assist with reporting, data review, and other underwriting support activities as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in commercial insurance, preferably in underwriting support, policy servicing, insurance operations, or a similar role; Workers’ Compensation experience is a plus.
  • Experience with Salesforce or a similar CRM or insurance workflow platform.
  • Familiarity with commercial insurance submissions, rating, loss runs, policy documentation, renewals, and/or binding processes.
  • Strong organizational and time-management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail, particularly when working with underwriting data and documentation.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with internal teams, brokers, and external partners.
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office or Google Workspace, and the ability to learn new insurance and technology platforms.
  • Ability to identify missing or inconsistent information and escalate underwriting or compliance questions appropriately.
  • Comfortable working with technology, workflow automation, and data-driven tools in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively as part of a team.
  • Must be available to work core business hours aligned with the time zone of the region this role supports.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience supporting commercial insurance underwriting teams, particularly within Workers’ Compensation.
  • Experience with underwriting or policy administration systems and automated insurance workflows.
  • Experience communicating with brokers, agents, or producers regarding submissions and policy servicing.
  • Familiarity with commercial insurance terminology, underwriting documentation, and regulatory requirements.

As a fully remote company, the compensation range provided is based on a wide range of factors including, but not limited to, skill sets, experience, and other business and organizational needs and is based on national averages*.
At Foresight, and its subsidiaries, it is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range, and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case.
A reasonable estimate of the current range is $40,000-$50,000 + bonus + equity.
